The convention for financial assistance (to power against aggression) opens for signature on Thursday, but the Australian delegate, Air Brennan, made history on Wednesday, when he signed in advance for Australia. Flandin’s attack on economic imperialism, Air Coleman retorted that Australia would support anything possible to check or prevent severe fluctuations of prices of agriculture commodities, but most strongly object to the War-saw-proposal of preferential treatment of European cereals against non-Euro-pean. This was tantamount to discrimination, and is a highly dangerous thing. If the League took- sideis in a controversial matter, the realities of Australia’s own position prevented tlie acceptance of such a proposal. He emphasised in any case that the whole thing depended on achieving a uniform standard of working conditions. Australia was concerned to protect Australian workers conditions and wages in the direction of ‘improving -rather than lowering, which was the - objective of'the reactionaries.
