The bride, a rich widow, who made over Her property to Kulaxides, was so distracted that she became insane and was sent to an asylum. The fate of six women lias y, : not been .solved. The body of the seventh has only been discovered in a ravine in Macedonia, terribly dis figuied. The long immunity enjoyed ' by Kulaxides was the result of his changing liis name and domicile. A detective investigating the death of his seventh wife, saw the prisoner shortly before tire tragedy, and recognised him again in Athene, and then discovered that before the dis- ; appearance of each wife, Kulaxides y iourned abroad with his wife, rind re- b turned alone.
