The vessel will load 100 tons of coal. for‘t|ie. Mawson in the' Antarctic,. The new' “Sir J. C. Ross” launched in April of this year from the Haverton-Hill-onTees yards of the Furness Shipbuilding Company, Sandefjord, Norway. The ship is built to earn- 20,000 tons, and she is therefore the largest motor tanker afloat. She replaces the “Sir J. C. Ross” which was a‘regular visitor to Wellington on her whaling expeditions in the past.
