Mr Lang appeared unexpectedly in the Federal capital, and it is understood that be asked the Federal Cabinet to refrain from announcing a,nv salary of wage reduction in the case cif the civil servants on the ground that it would prejudice the State Labour Party’s chances at tho forthcoming elections.

Mr. Lang claimed that Labour's return to .power is already assured.
