(By T«legraph—Per Press Association.^ CHRISTCHURCH, September 26. ,vj Albert Ewdard Wall,, a parterj was charged in the Magistrate’s Court yesyesterday with . obtaining £7 Is 9d m money from the' North Canterbury Hospital Board by false pretences. He pleaded .guilty. - ; - Chief-Detective Carroll said that Wall had a permanent contract with the Hospital Board for - the cartage of goods and had obtained the money from the board by altering the amounts on the consignment notes. Nothing was known against him previously, but he had extended the praci tice mentioned over some months. Mr Smithson, counsel for accused said that accused realised he had been very foolish and had oftered.to make restitution. ‘ 1 He was ah married man with two children. The Magistrate: You are old enough; to know better, Wall. I can't overlook the offence, which is a serious one!. You will be convicted and fined £3 and ordered to refund the money, in default. fourteen days’ imprisonment.
