(United Press Associat-ion—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, September 25. The Bank of England announces an important innovation. It is co-oper-ating with the Incorporated Association of Retail Distributors in order to secure reliable information in regard to the state of trade and cost of living. The next sta.ee will he the calculation of a retail trade index lvv the Bank. The first joint report by the Bank and the Association shows that prices were lower in August and trade less, signs of reduced purchasing power by tlie public, especially by the leisured classes.
