AIR MAIL POSTAGE

ISSUE OF SPECIAL STAMP. WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. •In anticipation of the commencement of aerial services within the Dominon during the next few months, the Postal Department has decided to issue a special air stamp. The special rate to be charged has also been Axed provisionally. The Department states that it is prepared to forward correspondence offered for despatch by air services within tlie Dominion on approved routes and run according to approved timetables. For this purpose an air mail postage stamp of the denomination of 3d is being produced. This denomination has been decided upon as it is proposed that the air transit charge within New Zealand is to 'be 3d per ounce in addition to ordinary postage. The proposed charge is one half of the Australian rate. _____
