BULLER COUNTY FINANCE
The Chairman (Mr Niven) of the Buller iCounty Council has reported that the, financial ;u>sition of thU local: body is a serious one. The Clerk's report on the matter bore out this statement. The present overdraft is £12,074, with a legal limit of £13,657. This shows only a difference of £1583. but there : are £IB3O of unpresented cheques, with tlic- half year’s ibank interest of £4OO to be added. Payments are' due from tlie Government, amounting to £1.G95, with a contingent amount of £1462 after Ist October. The overdraft was £4600 in excess of the amount at the same time last year. The reduction on account of main highway subsidies for the year is £824. For the financial rear to date, the receipts were £17,277 6s 7d, and the expenditure £22,734 4s.
