ATotor vehicles which were entitled to a rebate of 4d a gallon on purchases of motor-spirits before the imposition of the additional petrol duty will now be allowed a rebate of 6d, according to a statement by the Acting-Prime Minister, Hon. E. A. Ransom, in reply to the Leader of the Oppositon, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

A total of £185,000 was paid into the Consolidated Fund during'lß2-9-SO by the Post Office in return for the stamps used for receipts, bills of exchange, 'and miscellaneous purposes, according to a return laid on the table of the House of Representative* on Tuesday by the Acting Prime Alinister, the Hon. At the annual meeting of the local, branch of the Canterbury Automobile Association held on Tuesday night, a discussion took place on the heavy costs incurred by motorists in cases where they are convicted -of trivial often cep.
