NIAG AllA’S SHIPMENT
AUCKLAND, September 23.. The possibility of a race against time to unload a large shipment of New Zealand butter oil.the Canadian market before the operation of the'increased duty gives special interest to the present trip of the Niagara, which sailed from Auckland for Vancouver to-night. The Niagara which is carrying approx.Tnacelv 50,000 boxes of butter, is due at Vancouver on October 10th, and two days before the operation of the higher duty on New Zealand butter. Owing to. wet weather on Monday, loading operations at Auckland were delayed, and the Niagara, which wafe scheduled to sail / at 3 o’clock to-day did not leave until 10.30 p.in. However, under ordinary conditions, this time will be picked up during the voyage. The Niagara is expected to reach Vancouver on the morning of October 10th, and the Canadian Customs Office it is understood, has insisted;■that;fsll' documents connected with the consignment, must be handed in before, noon on October 11th. Although no trouble is. anticipated should a satisfactory trip be riiade, nothing has been left to chance. Arrangements .have been made with the Union Steam Ship Company thnt in case of delay, the whole of the consignment will be'Unloaded at Victoria a port on Vancouver Island, just south of Vancouver,,. and the documents will be conveyed by air mail to Vancouver,
