SALES TAX
GOOD SOURCE OF INCOME. (Australian Preßs Association.) (Received this day at 10 a.m.) J MELBOURNE, September 25. The Acting-Prime Minister (Mr Fenton) announced that the Sales Tax which was expected to yield £5,030,000 during the current financial year, has proved to be a satisfactory source of revenue to the Federal Government, and the returns are as great as has been anticipated. , He admitted, however, that the customs and excise duties up to to-day disclosed a leeway ot approximately £3,000,000.
