FISHING TRAGEDY
YOUTH aVhO COULD NOT SWIM.

Am inquest was held, to-day concerning, the-death of Roy Pearson, aged 17 .years, son of Mr S. J. Pearson, who was drowned on Kaiti Beach, on Sunday, through a dinghy capsizing. The. evidence showed that the three occupants pf the boat were thrown into the water Mahout two hundred yards from the shore.' They reached a submerged, rocdti The deceased and his brother .on it while the other man swam for the shore. The last-named on hearing cries, for help, went back and found thati-the two had been swept off the rock. The deceased was never seen again. Deceased oonld not swim. The Coroner. Mr Harper, S.M., returned a verdict of accidental death. Tlie Coroner ,said he would like to commend the two survivors, Victor Gilbert Pearson,■brother of deceased, and John Campbell Morris, brother-in-law, on the steps they took to rescue the deceased-
