GANG WARFARE
AT A PADDINGTON HOTEL

A gang warfare broke out in a Paddington hotel when a fierce battle with fists, knives and bottles took place. At one stage seven men lay unconscious on the footpath with blood streaming from their wounds and broken bottles strewn around them. One man is reported to have fallen with a knife in his hack, hut he cannot he traced. Another one of six who were arrested, had part of his ear missing, while a third had his hand bitten to the bone. Fifteen men were treated. The police were severely manhandled until reinforcements arrived when a hatton charge was mode and the row was quelled.
