LONDON, September 20
Ail arrangements are no tv completed for regular London to the Cape air scrviie.i Jhe first half of the service, uetiveen London and Lake Victoria, will he opened jn January, and it will ce extended to the Cape a few months afterwards.
Tnere will be an eleven day’s schedule in either direction. The journey through Africa from Cairo will at first occupy eight days, but later it is uoped, by means of night flying, to bring the Cape within nine days in order to obtain its general ratification.
MATTHEW’S PROGRESS
BAGHDAD, September 20
Captain Matthews has arrived at Ramadi, seventy miles from Baghdad, on his flight to Australia.
SYDNEY AIR PAGEANT.
ACCIDENT JUST AVERTED.
SYDNEY, September 21
The Air Pageant concluded at Hargrave Park yesterday. Forty-two machines participated in beautiful weather and Jn the presence of twentyfive thousand watchers.
Flying officer H. Sims; piloting a Westland Wapiti plane, won the Air Derby, averaging 135 miles per hour. Two of thepm a chines avoided a collision by the merest margin. Skilful handling by pilot Shortridge saved the situation.
Pilots Mollson and Shortridge flew upside down for several minutes, and gave a display of aerial acrobatics.

LONDON, September 21
. Speed in excess of six miles per minute was attained by R.A.F. high speed fliers in a practice flight in a Glouees-ter-Napier, built hut not used, for the Schneider , .pup contest though exceeding Orlebar’s official record made in a super marine Rolls Royce. The new record will not rank, because it was not observed.
The Air Ministry does not intend officially to qttack the existing record until a foreigner heats Orlebar’s speed-
