A. preliminary statement of the result of Imperial Airways for the yenr ending, March 31st shows that despite worldwide trade depression which was very liable to affect air transport, the profite before deducting charges for obsolescence, was over £143,000 compared with £115,000 last year. With rapid development and improvement in air design, the directors ha\e set aside £85.000 for obsolescence as against £3(5,000 last year. The year was the first of the England-! lidia service which proved very profitable. Less profit was made on the shorter services, owing to competition by heavily subsidised continental air lines.
