The Gisborne Chamjber of Commei'ce discusesd to-day the proposed Parliamentary Committee set up to investigate the position of the railways under .construction. Reicreiice ■was made to the fact that the blast Coast was not represented on the personnel of the committee. It was considered impossible by one speaker that, after all the promises made, the railway to Gisborne would be stopped.. It was resolved that if the Committee decided to investigate the East Coast , line, a deputation should proceed to Wellington with aill avail- . able evidence. On the other hand, the . Chamber passed a. resolution congratulating the Government on the expeditious work on the . Napier-Wm-,roa section of the line, and asking Unit. work on the Gisborne end Ibe iphislied on so as to synchronise with the completion of the Napier-Wairoa .section.
