WRESTLING.
TURK AL ALLEY. FORMER'S SURPRISE VICTORY. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, September 14. A bout of first rate, thrilling and spotless wrestling created tremen dous excitement at the Town Hall this evening, when Kara Pasha (12.0) defeated Tom Alley (13.0) by two falls to one. The Turk gained the last fall under unusual circumstances. In the third round, the Turk caught Alley in the “Boston Crab” hold, after perhaps a minute .spent in angling for it, Alley’s submission came like lightning. Two rounds later, Alley began « series of flying tackles, and with his fourth, a severe body blow, the Turk was ready to be pinned. Alley felled him, and lay on top of him for the equalising fall. In the next round, the sixth, after a brief excursion out of the ring, the Turk had again to prepare for a flying tackle offensive, which was initiated vigorously by the American. The second impact was a drastic ope, and Kara Pasha stood by the ropes with his hands in front of his body. Most of the spectators thought that Alley was on the point of winning the fall. An amazing and unexpected turn of events brought an opposite result. Alley took a quick measurer, and he rushed in for his third tackle. The Turk, however, who u;ns in trouble, stooped down slightly, either from pain or'by design, and Alley’s head struck the Turk’s head with n crack. Alley staggered back, clutching at his head, and the Turk, although dazed, had his wits about him enough to howl over his man and win the match with a pin that could have been applied by a child. Alley was in a bad was for a few minutes and he lay on the mat with the referee and his seconds doing what they could. He was afterwards examined by a doctor, hut there Is no permanent injury. He met with a similar accident in a bout at Auckland last year. To-nigt’s crowd was probably a record one, every corner of the house being packed. The wrestling was a magnificent exhibition.
