TRAGEDY FEARED
BOAT FOUND CAPSIZED.
;By Telegraph—Per Press Association.!
AUCKLAND, September 12
A capsized 14ft sailing boat, with all her sail sot, was found floating In Hauraki Gulf two and a-half miles from the shore, about three ■ o’clock this afternoon by the crew of the scow “Seagull.” From the fact that the sails were set, it is 'feared that the boat was occupied when it upset. Up to a late hour to-night, however, no one had been reported missing. The Seagull was coming to Auckland and when off Catar Bay, a point on the north side of Milford, the crew picked up a rudder, tiller, oar, and grating. Shortly afterwards the boat was observed, floating bottom upwards, and with only the centre board showing above the water. The derelict was brought to Auckland by the Seagull ,and Captain Lang, master or the scow, reported the matter to the police. The boat is painted white, but there is no name on it. It was empty when found. A boisterous southwest wind was blowing, and the weather was squally. •>.
