Fierce , gales have . been raging for the past twenty Jfour hours in parts of South .Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, and they have damaged both houses and gardens. Shipping is greatly disorganised. There have been the heaviest ot storms in Northern Tasmania, where floods are feared. The greater portion of New Soutn Wales to-day has been enveloped in dust. There was a severe hailstorm in the western and south suburbs of Sydney. which .smashed irinny windows, and a high wind lifted roofiiiig tiles into the streetsTlie Western Bureau lias issued warnings to shipping of an intense cyclonic disturbance over Southeastern Australia, extending over the Tasman Sea. A ROUGH VISITATION. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY,’ September 10. Considerable damage was done in tiie outer suburban towns of Liverpool and Cahramattn. A picture' theatre was blown down ancl a large hotel extensively damaged at Cabramatta. Scores of window-s which v r ere subjected to the fury of a hailstorm, were smashed to atoms. Tlie wind velocity was between fifty and sixty miles per hour and completely disorganised the telegraph lines in the country. Consequently the full extent of the damage is not ascertainable.
