A VERY GRAVE MATTER
BURIAL BEFORE INQUEST. HAMILTON, September 2. The burial of a child of ten months who died under an anaesthetic at the Waikato Hospital before the inquest I had been opened was characterised as a very grave matter that miglit be fraught with very grave consequences by the Coroner, Mr Wyvern Wilson, at Hamilton to-day. The child, Athol Jacobs, was admitted suffering from intestinal obstruction necessitating an immediate operation. The child was m an exhausted condition, and died before the operation commenced. The police were communicated with, and an inquest was arranged for. Shortly after however, an undertaker called and removed the body from the mortuary. The child was buried without a death certificate, and the body had to be exhumed for the post-mortem examination. A verdict in accordance ' with the medical evidence was returned.
