MURDER SUSPECTED

The dissected body of a young woman, tied up in sacking was found in itlie Seine at Clicliy. The arms were cut off close to the shoulders ahd the legs at the ankles. The head was severed cleanly. The police presume the woman was murdered in Paris and the body drifted downstream, A preliminary examination revealed that the feet were curiously small, driving the police to die conclusion she was a Chinese woman.
SPEEDWAY ASHES

England won the Speedway Ashes defeating Australia in the fourth test at Manchester by 51 to 45 points, in .the presence of forty thousand. Vic Huxley, the Australian captain, was the most successful rider .and won each of the four races. The time of the opening heat was 52 '!-5 seconds, the best time of the :t atoh. Jack Chapman won three heats but was beaten by Varey, the English skipper, in the fifth heat, levelling: the scores, after Australia led 13 to 11, Ben Johnson and Max Grosskreulz won heats. Dick Case, Frank Arthur, Billy Lammet and Dick AVise also participated.
