England won the Speedway Ashes defeating Australia in the fourth test at Manchester by 51 to 45 points, in .the presence of forty thousand. Vic Huxley, the Australian captain, was the most successful rider .and won each of the four races. The time of the opening heat was 52 '!-5 seconds, the best time of the :t atoh. Jack Chapman won three heats but was beaten by Varey, the English skipper, in the fifth heat, levelling: the scores, after Australia led 13 to 11, Ben Johnson and Max Grosskreulz won heats. Dick Case, Frank Arthur, Billy Lammet and Dick AVise also participated.
