M. Stephe Lauzanne, editor of “Le Matin,” an incisive critic of British politics, in a trenchant article on unemployment says that the root cause is the laziness of the British people. He points out that the wool inquiry in 1928, showed that Britain woollen goods were 15 per cent, dearer than Continental goods, owing to higher wages, shorter hours, and too much comfortable living.
