Similar petitions from R. Blair, J. H. Edwards, E. W. Anstio and R. AY. Smith were recommended for favourable consideration on the ground that idle punishment was too severe. The petitions referred to dismissals following a recent Takapuna race' meeting, when there were allegations that information had been divulged by means of a telephone' at Auckland Telegraph Office. National. Art Gallery and Dominion Museum Bill was introduced by Governor-General’s message arffr read a first time. !/ Consideration of Unemployment Bill was resumed in committee. The Unemployment levy clause • was passed /without amendment. Progress was reported and the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
