The Tourist Department is inviting tenders for the lease of portion of Alaruia Hot Springs reserve. The anniversary ball at Albert Hall, Ruatapu will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17th. Music by Black Hand Orchestra, The annual meeting of the Westland Racing Club is fixed for Tuesday,evening next at 8 o’clock, at the Club Rooms, Hamilton St. The business includes the presentation of the. annual balance sheet and the election of officers. The gas cooking demonstrations which are now drawing to a close, were continued at the Soldiers’ Hall yesterday afternoon, in the presence of an interested attendance. Mrs Heinz, Demonstrator, prepared a special menu of cookies, all of which, several dozen, wore donated to the hall committee for to-night’s event. The next demonstration will be on the 16th. inst. and the final for this season on the 30th. inst. Latest in art silk dress goods, Fastosun, Tobralco and Jeffrones.
