THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
DOMINION FINANCE. The Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand have suggested • that sir Otto Niemeyeic should he. invited to visit this country, to confer - with the Government in regard to> our' financial position, . The obvious objec- r tion to this proposal is that it may produce the impression, both; inside and outside the Dominion, that New ■ Zealand is just as badly in need of this distinguished financier’s advice and assistance as Australia. It l is highly inadvisable that either our people or tlie outside world should accept such a mistaken view of; New Zealand’s financial position. Australia’s financial disorders are infinitely mbre acute than ours. New Zealand 'is'not faced by any serious difficulty .... ‘in* meeting its obligations at Home, > , and there is not. the least danger, that p bur credit may be stopped in- the London Money Market. This should be made perfectly clear if Sir : Otto:is invited.
