BERLIN, Aug. 31. ' General Von Seeckt, the re-organiser of Germany’s, Post-Versailles Treaty Army, whose war record was most distinguished, is a ' candidate for the Reichstag. His candidature is being given wide attention. Addressing people : belonging formerly to the Stresemann Party,..at Dortmund, General- Von Seeckt insisted on the necessity for a strong foreign policy, though he conceded that co-operation for peace must remain its goal. He added that the fight against the Versailles; Treaty, and for the attainment of .German desires, which were so important for the pacification and consolidation of Europe, Germany would be justified in demanding a full restoration of her power for her participation in that fight. She must be able to prevent others from dominating her, while, at the same time protecting j her nationals throughout the world. He asserted that the “Polish corridor”- was a perpetual menace to Germany. Germany must maintain friendship with both Italy and Russia in. view of the threat of France’s huge armaments and Army expenditure. I
■. V EASTERN FRONTIER. TERRITORY WANTED BACK. ' . BERLIN, Sept. (L. Herr ■ Treviranus, whose speedio ( have recently caused anxiety in France in the bourse of a contribution to a newspaper, claims that Article Nineteen of the League of Nations Covenant, justifies the demand for a revision of. Germany’s eastern frontier, which, he,.says, was responsible for the country’s precarious economic situation. This., demand for. revision, he says, is no , more a disturbance of the world’s peace; than were the French protests between 1871 and 1914 against the German annexation of Alsace-Lor-raine. Germany, he added, had no need to dream of revenge. She wished to pursue(.a policy of justice and co-opera-tion with Powers that were not identified ..with the Versailles Treaty and wifh others recognising the justice of the, revision of that Treaty.
