the. Reform candidate, yet to be announced, for the Western Maori seat, Mr Samuel: Who made the suggestion P . Mr Ward: The suggestion was made that Reform should co-operate. (Opposition langther.) Mr Ward added that there was another matter which ,he would merely mention and not comment upon. His opponent stated in an advertisement: “The United Party on assuming office immediately increased their own emoluments.” If the statement had not included the words “their own” he would not have mentioned it, and he would not discuss the matter further. CLOSING THE ROLLS. • It had been suggested by another Reform member that the United Party telephoned its own supporters in Invercargill to get on the roll before it closed. He could not understand that insinuation, because he remembered that when he got to Invercargill his people complained bitterly to him that nobody knew that the roll was being closed. He at once telegraphed to the Prime Minister asking tha tthe roll be kept open for two days, so triat a number of persons might enrol, but he was informed this could not be done. Thus, it was evident that United supporters knew nothing about the matter.
