WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS. N.Z. PLAYERS AT MELBOURNE. (Australian Press Association) Melbourne, August 28. Tempestuous north winds interfered with the second day’s play in the women’s golf championship. The sixteen leaders at the conclusion of today’s round qualified for the final stages, which begin on Monday. Miss Kay, the New Zealander, had a decided setback to-day, when she took twelve at the second hole, but, due to her finp round .yesterday, she did not seriously jeopardise her chance of getting among the final sixteen. The leading scorers were: Miss Susie Tolhurst 84—85—169; Mrs Russell 86 —87—173; Miss L. Wray 86—89—175; Miss L. Bailey 80-97—177; Miss 0. Kay (New Zealand) 83—94^-177; Miss F. Rathbone (New Zealand) 89 —98 — 187. Others to qualify are Miss Sale, Mrs Hay, Mrs Cox, Miss Lascelles, Miss Donaldson, Miss Burgess, Mrs I Whiton, Miss Outhwaite, Miss N. Murdoch Miss Nancekivel. In the draw for the first round, Miss Kay meets Miss Lascelles, and Miss Rathbone moots Mrs Hay.
