PETROL TAX
•'By Telegraph—Press Association 1 WELLINGTON, Aug. 2* The Government has been informed by the petrol importing companies that it is their intention to continue to carry one penny of the additional tax placed on petrol. This will probably mean a further reduction in the price of petrol. J UR 108 R EDUCTION ANNO UNCED. WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. The main importing companies of bulk motor spirit have decided that the prices of the brands of motor spirit imported by the Shell, Vacuum, Atlantic Union, Texas and “Big Tree” Companies for all grades, will be reduced by one penny per gallon, both on bulk and cases, as Lorn tomorrow (Thursday). This means that these oil companies are absorbing one penny per gallon of the taxation recently imposed and that the motorist will be diarged only an additional penny.
