SENTENCES INFLICTED. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] , ; HAMILTON, Aug. 28. It is driving like this that puts in jeopardy the lives of innocent people remarked Justice Smith at the Supreme Court, Hamilton, to-day, in passing: a sentence ,of three months ■ imprisonment on Hector John Shaw, 21 years, found guilty of .negligently . driving a car and causing the death f of his cousin at Newstead. The prisoner, His -Honour- pointed out. i.iove a car in a manner which could crily be described as; reckless. Those who were found guilty of negligent driving must learn that they indulged in criminal folly at the risk of their own liberty., TWe prisoner’s driver’s license was suspended and cancelled for two years on the expiration of the present term. John George Fitzpatrick, 30 jears, found guilty of, an attempted unnatural offence on a boy, was sen- >, tenced to two years hard labour.
