Tile “Sydney Herald” says : ‘ The Lang faction in the Australian Labour Party fears that the talk of the repudiation of the war debts'and of the financial agreement may adversely affect the Party’s prospects at tile State elections, tits efforts to secure the rejection of the labour committee’s demand, threatened to cause a
split in the State labour movement.” The Acting Federal Treasurer. Mr Lyons, speaking at Burnie said:— ‘‘The suggestion for the repudiation of the debts could not be entertained for a moment.”
