COLOURED LOAVES
HARMONY WITH DECORATIONS
LONDON, Aug. 14
Loaves and sandwiches coloured to harmonise with wall pa pore and furniture are the 'latest society novelty, whoh was begun first in America. English bakers already are supplying mild colour varieties (according to the Milling Trade Joufnal), A London baker, after an American visit, writes; “I was visiting a New York bakery when a. society woman telephoned and ordered half a dozen mauve 'loaves, to tone with her reception room colour scheme. “The baker accepted the order and soon obliged. Afterwards lie experimented with green, purple, and blue, and secured good sales. He now produces loaves for lodge meetings and national societies. He makes tartan slices for St. Andrew’s Day, mul red, white, and blue for July 4, and green for St. Patrick’s Day.” Tlhe fad may evoGle co'nskjerubld annoyance during London’s redecoration eeason if hostesses forget to change their orders for coloured loaves when they alter the colour of their wall, paper. •It would be an awful faux pas should pink sandwiches be served with green wallpaper.
