This steamer, which was built in Glasgow, and is owned In Swansea is on her maiden voyage.* Her chief engineer, Mr A. S. Mallam, is the builders’ guarantee man, and he was on the Aelybryn when, the steamer was there last, year with phosphates. She there-; fore was yesterday afternoon tendered a concert and presentation -at Column ba Hall in the presence, of a crowded gathering, including, visitors from all parts of the West Const, ns well ns from Canterbury, and the occasion was.: marked by wy genuine- enthusiasm, proving a veritable tribute to Mother: Mary de Pazzi, and a convincing demonstration of the high regard in which she is held by a very wide circle of friends indeed. His lordship, Bishop Brodie made the journey from Christ-' church in order to preside at the celebrations, which to-day will take a purely religious form, when solemn Hi# Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, at which the occasional address will be given by the Bishop.
