WELLINGTON,, Aug. 26,
In a letter to Mr Amos, written prior to the opening of the Empire Games, Mr Hobbs, manager of the New Zealand team, gjves interesting details of the trip across Canada. They travelled with the Australian team, and everywhere both were welcomed with enthusiasm. It 'monitions that Hobbs \vas suffering from sciatica. They did not go out rowing at Vancouver, as Ayers and Brog thought one row in a foreign boat would not do any good. On arrival at Toronto they were met by Mr Collins (New Zealand Trade Commissioner) and Prof. Louden (President of the Canadian Amateur Athletic Association) and at Hamilton by Mr Robinson, one of the principal officials in the Empire Games and the representative of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association in Canada.
