NELSON COLLEGE WIN TOURNEY

The annual South Island Secondary School Rugby tournament commenced here to-day in 'brilliant sunshine, and before a large attendance. In the first match Otago defeated Christchurch by 14 to 8, after a rather disappointing' display • by both, teams.. •’ 1 "• T r
The second match between Southland and Timaru wan highly exciting; and spectacular. Southland gaining a meritorious win almost on the call’df time, the final scores being seven to five in favour of the home team. The tournament will be concluded on Thursday! BROAD CASTING FOOTBALL.;

The majority of members, claiming that broadcasting the description of football matches from Carisbrook was seriously reducing the attendancesthe Rugby Union decided to withdraw permission to the Company to broadcast the garaaJErp.m Carisbrook where Otago and Wellington meet nextSaturday.
