Bombs were flung at the car of Sir Charles T’egart, Police ObniniisHioner, as lie was driving in Dalhousie Square in the centre of the European business quarter of Calcutta, at eleven in the morning. Tegar was unhurt, hut the driver was wounded. A second assailant was killed, apparently 'by the premature lnirstng of a bomb "in his hand. Tegurt leapt from the car and chased one assailant who was subsequently arrested. He was carrying two other bombs. It is believed there were four assailants.
