OTTAWA, Aug. 24, A flieesage from Winnipeg states that two United States Immigration Officers, Inspector Boulton . and Inspector Jones, were shot and killed, by a bandit on a Canadian National passenger train near Emo, Ontario, early on Sunday. The bandit is named Emery Fremette, of Fort Eraiicisont. 1 Later he was surrounded in a farmhouse, shot, and seriously wounded by the police. Femette escaped from the police officers at Fort Frances on Saturday, after liis arrest, on a minor charge. After his capture, he confessed to the slaying. He expressed sorrow, declaring that he had lost his job, and his girl; and was desperate, and had robbed the members of the train cretv, but did not molest any of the. passengers, many of whom were not aware of his presence. The Immigration Officers were asleep in ft smok-. er. As they rose from their seat, Fremette opened fire;;-: killing ■ them instantly. He-.made "the conductor follow' him through five cars to the engine, where he robbed the engineer, fireman and brakeman. He then jumped from the train as it was en-' tering Emo, He was surrounded 'in a farmhouse.
