GERMAN FLYER[United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.i ST. JOHNS (Newfoundland) Aug. 24. Von Gronau, a German airman, has left Cartwright. Battle Harbour' and Point Amour wireless stations report the plane passing nearby apparently taking a course along the St. Lawrence river for a destination unknown.
Later, Von Gronau passed. Cape Anguille, Newfoundland, at 1.30 a.m. flying towards Halifax. GERMAN AIRMEN FORCED DOWN, , HALIFAX, Atlgilst 24. Van’ Gronau was forced down by heavy rains at Queensport Harbour, Nova Scotia at 3.45 p.m. NEW YORK, August 25. The German fliers are believed to have landed in Cartwright Bay, Labrador, from Greenland. The Hudson Bay steamer Baynain, received a radio from a plane at 2.18 p.m New York time, saying, “almost to Cartwright, expect to land in ten minutes.” There is no radio at Cartwright and this is the last available news.
