BIG LOSS EXPECTED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) TORONTO, Aug. 21. The “Toronto Star” in a Windsor despatch, states:—“The New Zealand increase in its motor tariff, on Canadian cars threw over one thousand Windsor employees out of work; The automotive heads are up in arms over the situation, and they are assailing Premier Bennett, claiming that the Canadian automobile manufacture is not only one of the Dominion’s most important industries, but is also one of those most seriously affected by the present world wide depression, and this, of all iimeu, is the worst one to disturb the trade arrangements ort which this industry depends. They also point to Canada’s growing unemployment figures.” “The sales of the Ford Motor Company of Canada,’’ (dated President Campbell, “would be seriously diminished.” President Mansfield of the Chrysler Coy, said that their business would be transferred to the United States, It has indicated that the Motor Coinpanys of Canada had lost . approximately five and a half million dollars worth of business. CANADA AND N.Z. OTTAWA, August 22. That Government is ready to discuss with the Prime Minister, Mr Forbes, on arrival in Canda in September, the question of a direct trade agreement, was intimated in official circles on I* riday.
