The story states a gay party of young people are throwing a party in the home of Jerry and Jennie Donnolly, 'brother and sister. Pat King is introduced as a singer, and she obliges with a. song as Bill Harrigan enters the apartment, late’ for the party. Pat makes quite a hit with Bill. He understands she is on the stage,' and tells her he is a* .travelling man. The next day Pat meets Bill' on the- sub/way, where he is ; employed as a He tries to make a date with her and she laughs at him. When she leaves the . oar, she forgets her pocketbook.' He finds , it' and learns from a card inside that she is a clerk at Woolworth’s ten cent store. He returns' the pocketbook to her there, and she thaws out and agrees to go on a dinner date with him that night. They attend the Mayfield Club, and the attention of Lawrence Mayfield, l the.; proprietor, is called to Pat by his'assistant. She is summoned to hi office and .offered a job entertaining in the night club. Bill doesn’t like the idea;-but Pat is crazy about it. That night Bill proposes, but she is still thinking about being a big v night club sensation. When she does not hear r from; ;]\layfi,eld, however, she accepts'Bfll’.| i proposal. ;.
