A sequel to a blaze in the vicinity of a street petrol bowser, on the night of August 12th. took place in the Lourt to-day, when Ronald Payne was fined £3 for bringing a naked light within ten feet of the fuel tank of a car, which was being filled with petrol. Payne struck a match to light a cigarette. The fumes over the tank bowser hose ignited. A serious situation was averted narrowly, the flames being smothered with a sack. The Borough Inspector said that a heavy penalty was not asked, as the charge was being brought as a warning. A maximum penalty of £IOO is provided LORD STONEHAVEN. TO SPEND SHORT TIME IN N.Z.
