The difference between market values and Government valuations was strikingly illustrated in the sale at auction of a Devonport property. A four-roomed house on a level section, 46ft by 102 ft, was sold by William. A. Horne, Ltd., for £175 cash. The Government valuation of the property is £6lO, and under the Devonport rating valuation it was valued at £BOO unimproved and £3OO capital value.
