BANKRUPT FAILS TO APPEAR, (By Telegraph—Press Association), WELLINGTON, August 19. A meeting of the creditors of W. Withers, of Wellington, builder, was held this morning, but the bankrupt did not put in/ an, appearance, nor forward any papers relating to the bankruptcy, and the. meeting lapsed. f The Official Assignee is taking steps to ascertain the present whereabouts of bankrupt. . B. N.Z. DIRECTORATE. WELLINGTON, August 19. Mr Forbes announced to-day that Air R. A. Anderson, O.M.G. of Invercargill, had been appointed a director of the Bank of New Zealand, in succession to the late William Reese of Christchurch. Mr Anderson is chairman of the J. J, Ward Company at Invercargill, and a member of the Local Bodies Loan Board. The term of the appointment is till March of next yetor, SIR MAUI POMARE’S ASHES. WELLINGTON, August 19. The Government has made arrangements for the ashes of Sir Maui Pom are to lie in state in Parliament Houss next week, Lady Pomare arrives with the urn by the Manuka on Monday.
