TRAIN DERAILMENT,

TAUMARUNUI, August 16,

As a. train arriving here from Frankton at 12.50, was pulling into the railway yards, the trailing wheels of the second “M” waggon from the engine jumped the rails about twenty yards from the facing points. Eight other tru ks were also derailed. The driver pulled the train up promptly, and the passengers received no slibek. The permanent way was badly damaged. It was expected to have the line clear by 3 p.m.

WELLINGTON’S NEW DOCK

WELLINGTON, August 16

The successful tender for the AVellington floating dock is £196,125, which is £125 above the Consulting Engineer’s estimate. Twelve tenders were considered, ranging up to £281,000. Delivery has to be given in March 1932. The estimated time of towage is six months.
