The King, Duke of Connaught represented, and nearly all living war leaders, naval, military and air force attend* ed a memorial service at St. Peter’s, Eaton Square to General Smith Dorrien. Many ex-service men were present, including members of the Old C'ontemptibles Association, whose wreath of red poppies was inscribed with* General Smith Dorrien’s historic announcement at Leceateau during the Mons retreat—“ Gentlemen we will fight. ”
