MR W. H. ATACK FAKE WELLED
WELLINGTON, August 15
To-day marked a milestone in tin history of the United Press Association when Mr W. H. A tack formally retired after having occupied the position of manager for over forty-four years. A presentation was made by the staff acqopipanied by eulogistic reference to Mr Atack’s long and faithfu 1 service to the Press of New Zealand. He was wished many years of life to enjoy his well-earned leisure.
Mr Atack, in reply, said it was not generally known that New Zealand enjoyed the best cable service in the world, and lie mentioned that during his period of managership he had written no less than 150,000 letters, which he thought was something like a record.
The new manager, Mr A. B. Lane was welcomed by the staff and an appropriate response made. •
