Continuous rains caused floods, sweeping away six miles of PekingMukden railway and destroying portion of Suiclnmghsien City where three hundred are reported to be drowned. A COMING EVENT. PREPARING A BONFIRE. (Received this day at noon.) RUGBY, August 14. Foresters were to-day building a beacon on top of Hunters Hill, overlooking the valley of Strathmore. This is regarded as indicating that the happy event at Glamis Castle, where the Duchess of York is staying, is now momentarily expected. The beacon will be lighted' whenever a- signal comes from the Castle. It should be visible for many miles and if the weather, is favourable, sailors in the North Sea should see the flare, A similar.beacon was lighted on Hunters Hill to celebrate the Duchess’s marriage.

A Mauritius message states the steamer Brookwood arrived after flooding No. 3 hold. The fire is believed to be under control.
