SEND OFF TO CONFERENCE

WELLINGTON, Aug. 13.
The Oity Council' at a special meeting this afternoon, decided that « civic farewell should 'be accorded to die Prime Minister, Hon. G. W. ifon'oes, who is leaving shortly lor the imperial Conference. The Mayor (Mr G. A.. Troup) in moving a resolution a) that effect, said that as-Wellington was the the Capital City; it -was fitting that Mr Forbes should bo tendered the city’s good wishes. The farewell would be of a particularly non-political 'character, the speakers to, bo tl) 0 Leader of the Opposition, die l eader of the Labour Party, and the M'ayor. The 'Council fully supported the proposal. The function will take place on Saturday 23rd inst. at 8 p.m.
