NEW MEDICAL SCHEME. GENERAL SERVICE FOR NATION. LONDON, July 20. The British Medical Association, at its annual meeting, approved of a scheme for the establishment of . a general medical service for the nation. The scheme aims at providing a service available for every class of the population covering preventive as well as curative medicine, and recommends that the medical benefits of the. present national health insurance Acts be extended so as to include dependants of all persons insured thereunder. The scheme recognises the family doctor as the foundation of any comprehensive dental, pathological, pharmaceutical and ambulance facilities. It is contended that, based on the contributory svstem, it would be largely self-supporting.
