LONDON’S GREAT NEW FACILITY

London’s commodious Floating Landing Stage provided by the Port ot London Authority for ocean passengers, although opened barely a month ago is becoming increasingly popular. In one day recently four large liners from America and Africa with passengers baggage and mails were, dealt with in record time. The best performance was in the case of the Blue Star liner “Avelona Star,” which had its passengers and baggage landed and was able to clear from the stage within 25 minutes after arrival.

Situated in a commanding position at Tilbury this palatial landing stage brings London within an hour’s journey of the sea. The stage is 1,142 ft. long and has a depth of water alongside sufficient to enable the largest liners to berth at all states of the tide. The London, .Midland and Scottish Railhead on shore connects the stage with all parts of Great Britain, and frequent services of trains convey passengers to the Metropolis within 45 minutes of leaving the ship. Visitors from overseas should arrange to make London their port of arrival. Apart from the saving of time and the convenience and comfort of direct travel, the opportunity presents itself of viewing the estuary of the historical River Thames, the gateway into London, the world’s emporium and holiday resort.
